1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Boostie, Inc. ("Boostie," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information across our Services.
"Services" includes: our public website at boostie.com; our recruiting and talent marketing application at app.boostie.com; and our Microsoft Teams application (Boostie Bot). Each of these contexts is described separately below, because the information we collect and how we use it differs by context.
This Privacy Policy is intended for use in the United States only. We do not market or direct our Services to individuals or organizations outside the United States. If you access our Services from outside the United States, your use is not supported by Boostie.
By using our Services, you acknowledge the data practices described in this policy. We encourage you to read it in full.
2. Who This Policy Covers
This Privacy Policy applies to three categories of people:
- Website Visitors — individuals who browse boostie.com.
- Job Applicants (Candidates) — individuals who apply for employment through our Services or whose information is submitted through the platform by an employer. This includes applicants who interact with a Boostie-powered career site or apply through a Boostie talent pipeline. See Section 3.2 and Section 5 for applicant-specific disclosures, including important information about automated decision-making.
- Employer Users — individuals at companies that use Boostie to manage recruiting and talent marketing.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Website Visitors
When you visit boostie.com, we may collect:
- Name and email address, when voluntarily submitted (e.g., via demo requests or contact forms)
- Information you provide in demo requests or other inquiries
- Usage and analytics data through tracking technologies (see Section 9, Cookies and Tracking Technologies)
3.2 Job Applicants
When you apply for a position through our Services, or when an employer submits your information through our platform, we collect:
- Name, email address, and phone number (if provided)
- Resume, work history, skills, and application responses
- Additional personal information requested as part of an application
- Communication preferences and opt-in/opt-out choices
We also collect certain technical data, including IP address, approximate city, region/state, country, browser type, and device type.
Important — Automated Decision-Making: Boostie's platform uses artificial intelligence and automated tools to assist employers in evaluating applications. This may include scoring resumes, ranking candidates, assessing job fit, and generating applicant summaries. If you apply through a Boostie-powered process, your application may be evaluated in part by these automated tools. Human review is part of the final decision process. For full details, including your right to contest automated evaluations, see Section 5 (Automated Decision-Making and AI) below.
Our Services are intended for use by individuals who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 18 in connection with job applications or employment-related processing. See Section 11 (Children's Privacy).
3.3 Employer Users — Microsoft Teams Integration (Boostie Bot)
Boostie Bot is a Microsoft Teams application used by employer organizations to receive candidate lead notifications within their Teams environment. When an organization installs and uses Boostie Bot, we collect and process:
- Teams channel information — the channels through which notifications are delivered
- Team identifiers — to associate notifications with the correct workspace
- Tenant identifiers — to identify the Microsoft 365 tenant associated with the organization
This data belongs to the employer organization, not to individual applicants, and is processed solely for delivering Boostie notifications within Teams. We do not use this data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond service delivery. This data is deleted when the organization offboards from Boostie Bot.
Use of Boostie Bot is also subject to Microsoft's applicable terms and privacy policies.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- Delivering our Services — processing job applications, routing candidate information to employers, delivering lead notifications via Boostie Bot, and powering AI-assisted evaluation features
- Communications — responding to demo requests and sending job alerts or service-related communications (with your consent where required)
- Service improvement — analyzing usage patterns to improve performance, reliability, and features
- Security and fraud prevention — monitoring for unauthorized access and maintaining the integrity of our Services
- Legal compliance — meeting our obligations under applicable laws and regulations, including automated employment decision tool (AEDT) disclosure requirements
5. Automated Decision-Making and AI
This section is specifically for Job Applicants. It describes how Boostie's AI features work, what that means for you, and what rights you have.
5.1 What AI Does
Boostie's platform uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to help employers evaluate job applications. These features may include:
- Resume scoring — assigning a numeric score based on match between your application materials and the job description
- Skills and experience matching — comparing your background to the role's requirements
- Candidate categorization — categorizing applicants by assessed fit for a role
- Application summaries — generating a written summary and reasoning of your application for employer review
These tools are intended to support, not replace, human review. They help employers identify candidates worth reviewing; they do not make final hiring decisions on their own.
5.2 Human Review
Boostie's Terms of Use require that employer companies using our AI features ensure that qualified human reviewers are involved in final employment decisions. AI outputs must be considered alongside other information, and employers must retain authority to override AI recommendations. If you are evaluated through Boostie's AI features, a human reviewer is required to be part of any final decision about your application.
5.3 Data Used by AI
Boostie's AI features may use the following categories of data about you:
- Resume content (work history, education, skills, credentials)
- Application responses
- Job description and role requirements provided by the employer
- Behavioral signals (e.g., engagement with application materials)
For more detail on how our AI works, see our AI Transparency page.
6. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:
- Employers — we share job application information with the employers you apply to through our Services, including AI-generated evaluations and summaries
- Service providers (Subprocessors) — we engage trusted third-party providers who process data on our behalf and are contractually restricted from using your information for any purpose other than providing services to us. A current list of our subprocessors is available at boostie.com/legal/subprocessors/
- Microsoft — use of Boostie Bot is subject to Microsoft's applicable terms and privacy policies in addition to this Privacy Policy
- Legal requirements — we may disclose information when required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Boostie, our users, or others
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to the acquirer honoring the commitments in this policy
7. Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to provide the Services and fulfill the purposes described in this policy:
- Application data is retained for the duration of our agreement with the relevant employer.
- Application data is deleted within 90 days of agreement termination, unless you request earlier deletion, unless extended retention is requested by the employer for backup or compliance purposes (up to 12 months), or unless we are required by law to retain it longer.
- Microsoft Teams data (channel, team, and tenant identifiers) is retained only for as long as the organization's Boostie Bot integration is active and is deleted upon offboarding.
- Website visitor analytics data is subject to the retention policies of our analytics providers (see Section 9).
You may request earlier deletion of your information at any time by contacting us at privacy@boostie.com
8. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including:
- Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure (SOC 2 certified)
- Encryption of data in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest
- Role-based access controls and least-privilege principles
- Multi-factor authentication for administrative access
- Regular security assessments and employee training
- Incident response procedures and breach notification processes
In the event of a security incident that may affect your personal information, we will notify affected parties as required by applicable law, and will notify our employer customers within 72 hours of becoming aware of a breach.
While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no security system is impenetrable. We encourage you to notify us immediately at privacy@boostie.com if you suspect any unauthorized access to your information.
9. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar tracking technologies on boostie.com and app.boostie.com. The specific tools we use include:
